Haddad Hangs up Lucasi Billiards Competition
Lucasi Hybrid Cues All-American Tour / Fort Collins, CO

by InsidePOOL Staff

Denver favorite Mark Haddad held off the competition at the Lucasi Hybrid Cues All-American Tour’s annual “Turkey Shoot” to take the title. Held November 26-27 at Match-Ups in Fort Collins, CO, the event drew a full field of 64 players from Colorado, Minnesota, and Wyoming.

As the field was set for the first-round matches, reigning champ Haddad started his journey through the winners’ side with wins over D. Gonzales, Ritchie Cunningham, Emil Cowboy, and Chuey Rivera. On the lower half of the bracket, local Dalton Zerlan was pushing his way through with wins over S. Kuntz, Greg Romero, Kiko, and John Sandifer to face off with Haddad for the hot seat.

It appeared to be a David and Goliath upset in the making, as Zerlan jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the race to 6. Haddad stayed focused and played flawlessly to rebound for a 6-5 victory to advance to the point position. The loss to Haddad put Zerlan into the one-loss bracket, where he disposed of Cowboy to gain another shot at the Haddad. The fairy tale of David slaying Goliath was not in the felt, as Haddad ruled in the finals to retain his title.
