Dunne and Johnson Take Maxim Titles

Ryan Dunne and Warren Johnson took top honors in their respective divisions at the April 16-17 stop of the Maxim Billiards.com Amateur Tour, which was hosted by Jonathon Pinegar and Amanda Townsend’s room, Lucky Break, in Manchester, TN. The event kicked off with its $1,000-added 9-ball tournament that hosted 46 entries and ended with the $500 guaranteed 8-ball tournament that hosted an additional 14 entrants.

Dunne laid claim to first place in the Maxim Billiards.com Amateur Tour’s 9-ball event after he made his way through bottom of the bracket to the finals where he double dipped Mike Jones. He began his bid for first by defeating Tony Daniel 9-2 and Brent Jackson 9-5. Dunne was sent to the left side of the chart after a 9-6 loss to Joey Sanson. He worked his way back by eliminating Adam Alsup 9-7, Charlie Lane 9-5, Chris Perhealth 9-4, and Robert Ohashi 9-7. A rematch with Sanson in the semifinals ended in Dunne’s favor 9-7. Once in the finals Dunne defeated Jones 9-5 in the first set and 9-7 in the second to claim the win.

In the amateur 8-ball division, Warren Johnson went undefeated to claim first place. He drew a bye in the first round and then proceeded to defeat JT Smith 5-1, Billy Jackson 5-4, Jason Jahoples 5-4, and Billy Jackson 5-4 in the first set of the double-elimination finals.
