Seminole events added as World events dropped

Matchroom Sport can announce that after considering the continuing deterioration in the economy, the rapid rise in airfares along with the price of oil and other factors, they have decided to eliminate the requirement for US players to compete in overseas tournaments in order to obtain Mosconi Cup ranking points.

Added to the calendar are the two double elimination events from the highly successful Seminole Tour. The first is the $25,000 added event at Snookers Billiards in Rhode Island from 5th to 7th August and the second is the $50,000 added Steve Mizerak Championship taking place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood, Florida in mid-September.

The US Mosconi Cup Ranking consists of 10 events – all based in the USA – and points will be allocated as per the BCA Points List with each event weighted depending on total purse, size of field and number of top-ranked players competing.

Only players finishing in the last 32 of each event will be allocated points and at the conclusion, after the 2011 US Open, the top three players will automatically gain entry to the Mosconi Cup side.

The remaining two players will be Matchroom Sport wildcard picks although the ranking will play a part in this as well as any significant performances in ‘World’ events.

In addition, due to a clash of dates, with Turning Stone Summer now coinciding with the 2011 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool in September, all players will now be allowed to drop their worst event of the ten from the ranking list.

This will enable the two players selected to represent the United States in the World Cup in the Philippines, to compete without being disadvantaged in the Mosconi Cup rankings.

The next qualifying event is the Ultimate 10 Ball Championship taking place at Frisco, Texas from 21-24 April.
