The second round of the WPBA’s Pacific Coast Classic saw Kelly Fisher taking a journey to the west side of the chart after a 9-7 defeat at the hands of Yu Ram Cha. Fisher, who took over the top spot on the WPBA’s ranking system two events ago at the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships. Cha will next face Monica Webb, who just bested Lisa D’Atri in a 9-0 whitewash.

Allison Fisher, though, continues on in the winners’ bracket, having won her second match against Kim White 9-4. Her next match will be against Kim Shaw, who defeated Melissa Morris 9-7.

Two others near the top of the rankings and looking to move up, Ga Young Kim and Xiaoting Pan, also won their second-round matches. Kim triumphed 9-4 over Caroline Pao and will next face Janet Atwell, who defeated Val Finnie 9-6, while Pan easily swept through Gail Grecar 9-2 and will play Gerda Hofstatter in her next match.

Kyoko Sone, who delivered a first-round defeat to the tour’s number-two player Karen Corr, lost her second match to Line Kjorsvik 9-7. Kjorsvik will play Dawn Hopkins in the third round. Hopkins sent Laura Smith west with a hill-hill win.

Iris Ranola, who surprised many with her runner-up finish at the U.S. Open this year, won her second match against Michell Monk 9-4 and advances to meet Vivian Villareal, who won 9-5 over Melissa Herndon. Young guns Anna Kostanian and Sarah Rousey are also set to meet in the third round, having won their matches over Belinda Calhoun and Helena Thornfeldt, respectively. And Jeanette Lee and Ewa Laurance are set to face off against each other in the third round by virtue of their respective wins over Melissa Little and Stacy Hurst.
